Hannah Frank, a Glasgow artist (1908-2008)
Hannah Frank who died at the age of 100 in 2008 attended Glasgow University and Jordanhill College, then became a primary school teacher till her marriage to Lionel Levy in 1939. She studied art at evening classes at the Glasgow School of Art in the 1920s and early 1930s. Her haunting black and white drawings are resonant of the Art Nouveau period, with a hint of Aubrey Beardsley and Jessie King. Her drawings and later sculptures were shown in the Royal Glasgow Institute, Royal Scottish Academy, and the Royal Academy during her 75 year artistic career. Reproductions were made of a selection of her art works and these are available for sale (£100-£300 for signed prints, £12.50-£40 for unsigned prints) on the website maintained by her family www.hannahfrank.org.uk .
